Best of NYFW Spring '13 Part One

Some of my favorite collections and trends so far.....

As I have mentioned before, CFDA Award winner, Altuzarra is one of my absolute favorites and I was thrilled to see what was in store for spring. The Moroccan/gypsy inspired looks from fall {thankfully} carried over to spring, but this time with gold tassels and neck scarfs. There were also amazing vented coats inspired by street style stars and fashion editors who drape jackets over their shoulders like capes. With the handy vents, you can keep your coat on but keep your arms cool in the heat. Geniusssss. Now who wants to chip in and buy one with me. We can share, I promise.

Inspired by Helmut Newton photographs, Jason combined his usual ladylike looks with one part dominatrix. There was a mix leather and lace, sheer black numbers with exposed corset seams, leather bralettes (PS.. bralettes are huge for spring...start doing crunches), and pretty dresses were topped with leather harnesses.
Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman were clearly inspired by India and Bollywood while making this extraordinarily ornate spring collection. The collection was full of bold colors from hot pink to chartreuse and there was plenty of tassels {which can also be seen in quite a few spring shows}, saris and intricate beadwork.

Until part two...

Favorites from Anna Dello Russo for H&M

After seeing all of the media coverage and photos of Anna Dello Russo's line for H&M, it became very clear to me that Anna really loves herself her upcoming line. But, I do too. It's going to be such a hit and though I say this every time a designer collaborates with H&M, I really really want something from the collection. I first posted about the line back in May, but since then, I narrowed down the collection to a few pieces that I cannot live without!! And who better to model my favorites than Anna herself.

Totally worth posting this picture again! Those bracelets....

Hello crocodile sunglasses, you must come home with meeee!
All accessories will be available at H&M

I need this baroque, turquoise suitcase. Isn't it amazing?
See more of the collection here

Are you obsessed yet?? No? Well let Anna give you a fashion shower ;) Don't forget, the line hits about 140  H&M stores and online on October 4. Take it away Anna!

Wedding Wednesday: Bachelorette in NOLA

So as I said on Monday, I headed to NOLA for my friend, Katie's bachelorette party! Katie has been one of my best friends since we were 15 so it was so fun to celebrate her upcoming wedding in our favorite city, New Orleans! I estimated that I gained 100 pounds eating all the delicious food, but probably sweat it all out as it was super steamy and I was forced to wear pants at Galatoires. They are super old school so if you ever go there, remember you can't wear shorts or jeans with holes in them. I learned this the hard way when I was sent back to the hotel to change. hahah!

Oh also...if you want to feel like a Victoria's Secret supermodel, grab some girlfriends and head to Bourbon Street. I have never seen a group of girls get hit on as much as we did. I mean...married men, super creepy men, homeless name it, they hit on us. It was insane. So seriously remember that if you need an ego boost.

Speaking of weddings, how shocked were y'all about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds?!?!  I love that it was in Charleston and that Florence Welch sang!!! Ugh!! I really need pictures from that wedding. Apparently, Blake wore a custom Marchesa gown and she and her bridesmaids had custom Christian Louboutin shoes made for the event. DYINGGGGGGG!!!!!  Another detail: The planner was Charleston wedding planner, Tara Guerard.

Here is a pic of the plantation where the wedding was held...
ps...this is where they filmed The Notebook..aghgh!

Fashion's Night Out Dallas Recap

Happy Monday lovelies!! Hope you all had a great weekend. I went to NOLA for a bachelorette party on Friday {more on that on Wednesday} and unfortunately didn't have time to post about our amazing time at Fashion's Night Out hosted by FD LUXE in Highland Park Village. My bestie, Lizzy and I had  really owe our entire night of fun to the girls at Stella McCartney. Sloan, my new Stella bestie and sales superwoman somehow managed to get us front row seats at the show!! It was almost perfect except for the 108 degree weather. Baghhg!! After seeing fall looks from Carolina Herrera, Lela Rose, Hadleigh's, Stella and more, we headed to the Stella McCartney party where we browsed, had our complimentary Stella undies monogrammed and had a great time people watching. After that, we shopped and shopped until my feet were about to fall off, but it was totally worth it. Overall, it was such a blast!!

poor models wearing wool and jeans in the heat!

The Stella store where Lizzy shopped for Fallabella's
Toured the Five and Ten store makever, entered the PS 1 giveaway and finally found a hat that fit my head. was $365..booooo

Fall Trend To Try: The Designer Sweatshirt

There are so many reasons that I am looking forward to for fall, but one of the biggest is that I am dying to start wearing fall clothes. The Dallas heat has really limited my wardrobe and I am ready to start fresh with fall! There are like 100 trends I can't wait to discuss, but I thought I'd dive right in with one of my favorites: The Designer Sweatshirt. Why, I love this, I have no clue. I am assuming it's because they are warm, comfortable and for this season at least, you will look super cool if you leave the house in just your sweats. Music to my ears!

Want this entire look
Loving the embellished sweatshirt
a bit too much for me, but I love the idea of wearing a graphic sweatshirt
This is my inspiration for wearing the trend!
Ugh...I think we all know she is perfection

Oh...and there is nothing wrong with even getting Hanes! Layer it with a fun fur vest or pair with some boyfriend jeans and you are ready to go!

My Paris Apartment Dream

Bonjour mon ami's! After drooling for days over Lauren Santo Domingo's Paris apartment, I thought it would be really fun to build my own Parisian home! If I had my dream apartment, it would be in a Haussman style building, there would be white walls, chevron floors and ornate moulding in almost every room and it would be sleek yet glamorous, yet comfortable and exude Parisian chic. No more talk...let's get to it!

Tuesday Shoesday

Hellooooo everyone!! Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!! As I said Friday, I was not going to do anything but get some sun, eat and see movies and that is exactly what we did. I even cooked which is why my husband asked if he could enroll me in a cooking classes. Also, my bestie, Lizzy got engaged to my husband's bestie!!!! Now three of our best friends are newly engaged and I could not be more excited!

Now on to a little Tuesday Shoesday.

This Tuesday Shoesday is about some shoes that actually anger me. In The Now's history, I've only posted about the shoes or trends I love, but when there are shoes out there as hideous as Marc Jacobs' fall 2012 futuristic Pilgrim shoes, I need to do a little venting. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Marc, why?!?! Where have you gone? Come back from the fugly dark side!

Exposed crazy granny socks + hideous Pilgrim shoes = DISASTER And WHAT are those pilgrim clog sandals? Sick!

I know the fashion gods may be looking down on me as I bash the golden child's collection, but are you serious!?!? Someone look me in the eye and tell me that they want to put these on their feet. And if you can do that, I question your mental state. Bleh and those hats!!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!? Doesn't that hat remind you of this? He must be taking crazy pills to think those hats are good.

Well, I don't know.. maybe the hats aren't all that bad.....

Are there any trends or collections you are hating right now? It's ok...vent to the lady in the hat! She won't judge!
