Altuzarra's Ode To Moroccan Roll

Joseph Altuzarra is pretty new to the fashion scene, but I have always thought he had so much talent and tremendous staying power.  After seeing his fall 2012 collection, he totally solidified my admiration! He combined Moroccan flair with his great sense of style & tailoring to make one of the most noteworthy collections of the fall 2012 shows. And as a big interior design fanatic, how could you not love this collection?!?! There were knit dresses with embroidered medallions {technically the medallions were more belly dancer than wedding blanket, but looking at some of the dresses, I couldn't help but be reminded of a wedding blanket} and draped jersey dresses, skirts and sweaters in Moroccan rug prints. Genius!! Check out some of the looks..

Rundown of the 2012 Oscar's: Best Dressed & After Party Pics

Watching the Oscars has always been so exciting for me! Confession, when I was in early middle school, the Oscars were an even bigger deal. I would dress up in my fanciest dresses, sit directly in front of the TV and not move  until the very end. Nerd Alert!!! To me, it is the Superbowl of fashion (The Met Gala is at a dead even nowadays). This year was a very "close game". There were so many gorgeous looks that it was hard to pick my top 5, but I managed. Gwyneth and Rooney both pretty much took my breath away so they are kind of tied for first in my book. The beautiful nominees, Jessica and Michelle were standouts as well as Angelina. I was weirded out by her walk and poses but nevertheless, she looked stunning.

A Look Inside DVF's Penthouse

When Diane bought the 35,000 square foot building in the Meatpacking District, the neighborhood was considered seedy and undesirable. " Everybody said that I was crazy—that it was full of drag queens, that it smelled awful because of all the butchers",  DVF told Architectural Digest. What an investment considering it is one of the most desirable areas in New York today!

While I absolutely LOVE the architecture inside and out and do appreciate the furniture, accessories and art, I am not in love with the way the apartment was styled. The magazine describes the space as “an edgy, effervescent quarter exuding equal parts glamour and grit.”  Now, I am by no means an interior design genius & I will never have a home as insane as this so I really have no room to critique, but I am not 100% head over heels for the decor. I guess if we all had the same style, life would be pretty boring. I digress. Here it is:

The Exterior:
The apartment is on the top floor of a six story building which also houses a DVF flagship boutique & design studio

The Penthouse was designed by famed architecture firm, WORKac.  Could you imagine living here???

The Interior:

The designer sitting underneath one very large portrait of herself
OBSESSED with these Franz West chairs that sit around an Emile-Jaques Ruhlmann table. Family photos and artwork surround the part time work area/part time dining room.
Such a gorgeous room with enormous windows and of course a portrait by one Andy Warhol
A bamboo and linen tent made by Lilou Marquardt (Coco Chanel's last assistant), was used to cover the bed (with all those windows up above, I can see why it would be nice for a little privacy)
The master bath has a freestanding teak bathtub and the screens, again, provide privacy
So, what do you think??

In other exciting DVF news

Have you seen that DVF for Gap Kids is hitting stores March 15???

So cute!!! Must stalk The Gap for my nieces!!

Monday Randoms

Happy Monday to everyone!! I spent all weekend at my lake house and it was so relaxing, that I am having a hard time pulling it together & I didn't get a post ready for today. I did see this video, Sh#t Fashion Girls New York Fashion Week, over the weekend & I thought was pretty hilarious. Some of you may have seen this but if you haven't, it's a must watch!!!

In other fashion news, Stella McCartney threw a dinner for her evening wear capsule collection this past weekend in London and all of my favorite super models, Shalom, Amber and Kate, were there! Stella topped off the amazing night by having a flash mob {in Stella of course} perform during dinner and Shalom even took part in all the action. Amazing!!! To be a fly on the wall at that party...sigh!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
I'll be back tomorrow for Tuesday Shoesday!!

Celebrity Styling Series with Sara from A Dose of Pretty

I bet y'all are as happy as I am that it's finally Friday!!! Today we have Sara from the fabulous blog, A Dose of Pretty styling and decorating for one Olivia Palermo. I am so happy to have Sara on the blog because I have been a fan of her blog ever since Annie and I started The NOW. Sara and I first "met" when said she was moving to South America. I misread her post and thought she was moving to South Africa and I immediately emailed her to tell her I had friends in Capetown. She politely emailed back and said she was not going to Africa. I am such a weirdo! Anyway, I love hearing about her life in Peru and her plans for her new addition: baby #2 {a girl!!!}. I love to see her inspiration and updates for her nursery! Without further ado, here's Sara!

Hello, Hello! I am Sara from a dose of pretty and I am so honored that
Elizabeth asked me to participate in her Celebrity Styling Series and
share with you a little about my style icon, Olivia Palermo.
I love her style because it's feminine, sophisticated, comfortable, and classic.

Tuesday Shoesday

First off, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to everyone!! I hope your day is filled with love, happiness, chocolates and maybe shoes? I mean, what says "love" like giving someone a pair of shoes or even better, an entire closet for your shoes (half way joking). Remember Big's gift to Carrie??  That was love!
While 99% of us won't be getting a closet or even a pair of shoes for Valentine's Day, I can at least give you some love at first sight images of the most beautiful shoe closets/ shoe walls in the history of the world. ENJOY!!!

The closet that had us all dreaming...

Kerry Schlegel's (our pal Krystal's sister) dreamy closet

could you imagine?!?!

Have an empty china cabinet lying around (who doesn't)?
Move it to the closet, put your shoes in it and call it a day!
