Celebrity Styling Series: Carolyn of Tilly Maison!

Happy Friday, Loves!

We are THRILLED to have one of our original blog friends guest posting today... the one and only Carolyn of tilly | maison!  I know for a fact that you all know and love her by now, as she's famous for her fabulous lucite trays and (our new favorite) dip-dyed mugs. Not to mention, her blog is full of amazing inspriation!  Thanks for joining us, Carolyn!

Hello friends! Carolyn here from tilly | maison!

First I want to thank A & E for inviting me over to participate in their wonderfully fun Celebrity Style series. I had such a hard time narrowing my choices, but in the end I decided to take inspiration from the Oscar nominations this week and base my design on the adorable contender for Best Actress, Michelle Williams and her equally adorable red carpet style (p.s. have any of you seen My Week with Marilyn? I haven't yet, dying to!).
Looking through Michelle's various red carpet looks, it quickly becomes obvious that the girl l-o-v-e-s neutrals. But she always chooses her whites, creams and golds in the most beautiful textures—never boring:
At the same time, it is very clear that this is a lady not afraid of color:

My interpretation is a living room that is full of neutrals, lots of textures, tailored and sophisticated, yet young and fun—and of course a pop of cheery color for good measure.

What do you think? Do you want to curl up in that beanbag as badly as I do? Thanks so much again for having me A & E!

xoxo Carolyn

Wedding Wednesday! Annie's Wedding - Highlight Film

Happy Wedding Wednesday, Friends!

One of the vendors I was most excited about having was my videographer.  To me, this was more important than almost anything else (aside from my funfetti cake), as I know that Carl and I will always go back and watch the video.  Hakim Sons Films did an amazing job capturing our big day, and I'm excited to share the video "Trailer" with you today!

So link on over to THE NOW Facebook Page and check it out!

Over the weekend....

Annie and I had to move our Lust List to tomorrow because we both had busy, busy weekends! Annie went off to Crested Butte and I had a birthday party on Friday, threw a baby shower on Saturday and had another baby shower on Sunday! Lots of fun. Anyway, I thought I would post the pictures from the baby shower that was at my house for my great friends, Lisa and Aaron. The hostesses did the most amazing job on decorations and food that I just had to show off their hard work!!!

can you believe this?!?!

the onesie table was a HIT!

Celebrity Styling Series with Mackenzie from Design Darling

We couldn't be more excited to have our blog friend,  Mackenzie Horan from Design Darling, guest post today. If you haven't been to Design Darling, where have you been? haha..but seriously. She is one  super stylish, not to mention talented and accomplished lady! She has interned at Jonathan Adler, was an editorial intern AND had published work for Rue Magazine and is about to open her first boutique {launching in March}!!! Mackenzie has so much going on and we are so happy and grateful she had time to head on over here and give us her picks for our girl crush, Emma Stone!

Hi there! I'm Mackenzie from Design Darling and I'm thrilled to be doing a little celeb styling on The Now today! I have a major style crush on fellow redhead Emma Stone. She's absolutely hysterical, she's made out with Ryan Gosling, and she has killer style to boot? Sounds like somebody's living my dream life... ;)

I love that she dares to wear bright colors that I rarely do. You'll usually find me in gray or navy blue but Emma proves that it's possible to rock red as a redhead! I love the pink and red color-blocking in these two looks and I can't wait to recreate it in time for parties this spring and summer.
That said, she definitely knows when it's best to stick to classic colors and a bold red lip. I love her ladylike lace number and tried to recreate it with this fun little black dress and cutout pumps. What do you think — do you love her style as much as I do?!

Thanks so much to Annie and Elizabeth for having me! xx

Additions To the House!

Our new table!!! has a drawer!

Need to work on my tablescaping skills obvi!

I found this antique french, tiger oak farmhouse table at the most amazing consignment store (Dallas peeps, YOU MUST GO THERE),  Area 25 and it was love at first sight! It is the perfect size for the area, but there are a few changes I must make....

What is really annoying is that the person we bought our house from put the above light fixture in the most random place and it is not centered in the room. UGHHH! Once I find a chandelier, I will have to have the electrician center the fixture and then have someone patch up the ceiling where this one is.
Although I love these chairs, I may move them back to our breakfast nook and replace them with white Panton chairs.
Wall Accessories:
I am thinking a large mirror?? I don't know...

So many decisions and I would appreciate any thoughts that you might have!!!

In addition to the table, I also bought this amazing abstract print by Nancy Ramirez from Cozamia to put above our light blue couch. I showed it to Annie and she said she almost bought the same one...Great minds think alike.

New Art:

Lucid Surf by Nancy Ramirez
The Chalkboard Wall:

There hasn't been much of a change here but I did add a couple of drawings!

I wish I could just draw like that, but I used this mirror to
trace the "art" onto the walls
I'm having a shower at the house this weekend so hopefully friends can add some graffiti to the walls!

More to come!!!

Celebrity Styling Series With Carissa of The Fabulous Design File

We got a little off track with our guest post series, but we are back with Carissa Erickson from The Fabulous Design File! We have been fans of Carissa's blog for quite some time and are so happy to have her over at The NOW! From her fun and creative DIY ideas to her home decor projects to her posts about her two boys who, as she puts it,  "enjoy coloring on walls and lawn mowing the area rug with scissors", The Fabulous Design File is full of inspiration and entertainment. If you have not visited her blog, get over there NOW!!! We want to say a big, "THANK YOU" to Carissa for being a part of our series!!! NOW let's get to it...

First of all, thank you to Elizabeth and Annie for inviting me to participate in this fabulous series!  I was delighted to be able to create a room inspired by my current favourite celeb, Zooey Deschanel!  I mean, seriously, she is super funny and uber talented, not to mention totally adorable.  The eyes?  The hair?  Amazing.  And New Girl is the best show on tv right now.  No question.

I love that Zooeyís style is feminine, but with vintage flare.  I was inspired by this particular outfit from the ìBellsî episode of New Girl:

Here is how it translated into decor:

Zooey has the bluest eyes ever, so I decided to go with a deep blue paint color (Benjamin Moore Patriot Blue).  I knew right away that the Anthropologie curtains were perfection.  Then I chose the girly blue Urban Outfitters settee, with one vintage looking floral pillow and one polka-dot pillow.  The art is an eclectic mix mostly from etsy sellers (clockwise from top left): trees, bike, flowers, lights, home.  I finished the room off with a vintage-inspired Urban Outfitters lamp.  Voila it's JESS!!!

Thanks again for having me over today, girls!  It was super fun putting this room together!

Steal of a Deal: Urban Outfitters ZigZag Rug

Chevron rugs seem to be here to stay, which is fine by me, especially considering that I have one in my living room...

Well if you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, now's your chance... at a VERY reasonable price!   Who knew that Urban Outfitters carries chevron rugs in a variety of colors?  Not to mention, I checked out the reviews (not going to lie - I was doubtful) and they were beyond favorable.  They come in 3x5 and 5x7... which isn't quite big enough to fill a living room, but it would be GREAT in a bedroom, playroom, office,  etc.  Or, if you're dead set on using it in your living room, I'd recommend buying an inexpensive sisal and then layering this chevron beaut on top.

Here's a peek at the color choices:
