Wedding Wednesday: The Wedding Exit

Happy WW!

So today I've got wedding exits on the mind.  There's something about the exit that is so incredibly special... not to mention, it makes for the BEST pictures (hello Christmas card 2011)!  Carl and I have actually already picked out what we're doing for our exit, and I must say it was hard narrowing it down between two choices!

Here are a few great pics of some traditional - and not so traditional - options...

Sooo... which is your favorite?  Have you ever seen a completely unconventional wedding exit?

xoxo, A

Tuesday Shoesday

Today, we are going to talk about a few very controversial shoes: The Miu Miu Glitter Ankle Boots. Now, I am still not sure how I feel about them, but they are starting to grow on me so I thought I would open the topic for discussion. I have developed a few arguments in favor of these shoes, but I would love everyone's opinions so here we go. Are these a hit or a miss?

A| available in mint and pink at My Theresa and Net-a-Porter B| available at Saks C| also available at Saks

  • Exhibit A: Here we can see the pair on fashion goddess, Anna Dello Russo, and I have to say that they look even better on. I think the mint colored ones are a pretty alternative to the black.
  • Exhibit B: Here is a more conservative style with a closed toe and suede bow. This one isn't bad at all. It's still for the adventurous, but doesn't scream, "look at me".
  • Exhibit C: A variation of B, but with an open toe in my favorite color combo as of late, gold and pink.

Celebrity Styling Series with Gold and Gray!

Happy Friday - aka - Celebrity Styling Series day!

Today we're featuring the amazing Lily from gold & gray... We adore her and her daily blog posts around fashion, interiors and all-things style.  If you haven't visited her blog, then GO NOW!  Well, go after you read her Olivia Palermo-inspired post below.  After all, Olivia is one of our biggest style obsessions too!

Hi everyone…Lily here from gold&gray. I am so happy to be here sharing my celebrity inspired look! Olivia Palermo has always been a style inspiration of mine. I love the way she mixes classic pieces like blazers, black pants, and pumps with more trendy pieces like leopard, bright colors, and statement jewelry. She always manages to look extremely chic! I put together some Fall pieces that I think Olivia would love to add to her closet-only if she doesn’t already have them of course! Thanks so much Annie and Elizabeth for having me over!

Top Collar

As we've mentioned before, we are in love with button downs lately, but what has really made me obsessed are the collars of the shirts. Sounds a little nit picky, but lately, everyone is showing off the collar! As soon as Dallas stops being 200 degrees every day, BAM....the buttons will go up all the way to my collar! Collars have been and will continue to be huge for fall so even if you want to wear a T..put a collar on it!

Love the shirt..not sure about the hair!

see...Leandra does it!

Wedding Wednesday: My Save the Date!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

With less than 3 months to go until my big day, I thought I'd start sharing some REAL wedding details with you.  I'll start with one that is literally one of my favorite things about life right now... my save the date!

I had a distinct vision for what I wanted... letterpress, over-the-top calligraphy, and the font slanted to the side. Luckily my project manager - aka my sweet dad - was willing to call all over the country to find a letterpress studio to meet our budget (not an easy task!) and a fabulous calligrapher in Dallas to create the art.

Be sure to visit Debi Sementelli (calligrapher) Parklife Press (letterpress studio) to see their fabulous work.  Oh, and see below for my big reveal...

You likey?

Tuesday Shoesday:

Happy Tuesday Shoesday. I am so excited about this TS because I can talk about two of my favorite fashion subjects, shoes and Rachel Zoe. Rachel has taken her affinity for "tranny shoes" to another level with her own collection of footwear!! While I love her suede, over the knee boots and her super platform pumps, I was drawn to these 5 1/2 inch suede and leather strappy wedges more than any other pair.
Find this style and more at Shopbop & Piperlime

Celebrity Styling Series With Ashley Nicole Catherine!

It's Friday, which means Celebrity Styling Series day!  Today we are so proud to feature the creative talents of Ashley from Ashley Nicole Catherine.  Ashley has quickly become one of our favorite and closest blog friends, and we adore her incredibly chic daily posts.  Whether she's sharing a fabulous editorial from the latest Vogue Italia or featuring a sneak peek into her upcoming Wedding, we can't get enough ANC!

i am thrilled annie and elizabeth asked me to host today's celebrity styling series! i had decided to pick a modern-day style icon when thinking about this guest post, but my mind kept coming back to audrey hepburn. she truly was the embodiment of style, grace, and glamour.

for a distinctively "audrey" look, stick to classics and remember that black isn't drab, it's fab! audrey was forever dashing about in black cropped pants over a black leotard or a simple boat neck tee. she played up her eyes with black eyeliner and mascara and added glamour to her mostly simply attire with killer accessories. you can update this look with modern touches, like a pair of fun leopard flats.

We LOVE your inspiration, Ashley!!!  Thanks so much for visiting us on THE NOW.

Wedding Wednesday - My Shower Hostess Gifts

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Most of you regulars probably remember the Wedding Wednesday: Hostess Gift Edition feature I did a few months back.  Each guest blogger provided fabulous inspiration, and let's just say that I won't be running out of hostess gift ideas anytime soon!

Well, when it came time to find a gift for my 7 sweet bridal shower hostesses, I actually came up with my own idea and would love to share it with you.  We Dallasites are lucky enough to have a Wisteria Outlet, and they have the most incredible jute shoppers.  They come in every color, and numerous sizes. And best of all, they're only $18 each.  The only problem is that they have a pretty ugly "Wisteria" leather patch smack dab on the front of them... not exactly hostess gift material.  Well the sweet ladies at Wisteria were kind enough to allow me to perform surgery on a sample tote to see if the label would come off smoothly.  That it did, and I took the totes to an embroidery store to have each girl's monogram placed on the front.  I think my friends loved them, and best of all, they only cost about $25 each.

You can get the bags online here if you're interested!

Tuesday Shoesday:

Late last night, I discovered that there is a very special coffee table book coming out very, very soon. So what better way to celebrate the yet to be released Christian Louboutin book (simply called Christian Louboutin ) than to pick a good old pair of CL's for Tuesday Shoesday. I am sure his majesty aka Mr. Louboutin will be so honored by this! ha The book is to be released October 4, but you can pre-order here.

ooooohhh ahhhh!!!

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Shower Bliss

Happy Wedding Wednesday!!!

This may just be my happiest WW yet... because I get to share pictures of my bridal shower.  I am SO grateful for all of the love and thought that my sweet best friends put into this special day.  From the gorgeous floral (all done by E!) to the delicious food (all made by my girls), it was so incredible.

On top of that, I was lucky enough to be there with my mom, all of my friends, and every woman in Carl's family (all who made the 3 hour drive from Austin!).  It was surreal being surrounded by all of the most important women in my life!

I am the luckiest girl EVER!

Had to Have It...

I have been in love with the Valentino studded pointy toe shoes for quite some time, but I didn't have the funds to spend $800+ for a pair. Well, I was strolling through the sale rack at Stanley Korshak and what did I see? A pair of black, rock-stud flats in my size and they were 65% off!!! Usually Annie finds all of the great deals and now I know how she feels. I am so proud of my find!

The Cambridge Fluro Satchel

I know I am really late to the game on this bag, but I just saw someone carrying it the other night and I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It's similar to the Kate Spade Essex Scout that I thought I couldn't live without, but then never bought, but Cambridge Satchel Company is the OG. I need one! But what color should I get??? I mean, it's like choosing my favorite ice cream flavor...impossible!!! And I love that you can personalize it with your initials! Should I really consider the bag or has the ship sailed on this neon bag craze?

Hellooo lovers!

Enamored with Etageres

Annie and I both watched Secrets From A Stylist on HGTV on Saturday night and we were both OBSESSED with the episode. For those of you who have never seen the show, here is a brief summary: homeowners seek out designer, Emily Henderson, to help layer their different styles into cohesive, tailor made rooms. I personally have a very difficult time finding a way to layer every style I love into one room without looking like a bipolar crazy woman. Anyway...the episode on Saturday was about mixing "70's funky elegance" into a lving room for two sisters. Those three words pretty much contradict each other, but Emily!!! The room was gorgeous and what really caught my eye was this GORGEOUS, gold etagere that was placed behind the pink sofa. Since watching that episode, I have decided I need some of these glam shelves in my life!

So I could take a large shelf and place it behind my couch as Emily did on the episode. I really would like to move the blue chest anyway as I think it is way too small for that wall....

Or I could place two skinnier shelves on either side of my blue couch and use them sort of like end tables. The couch arms are so high that side tables aren't useful anyway...

My Inspiration...

Any thoughts, advice????
