In a Black and Orange kind of mood...

Happy Halloween everyone!!  Today I'm feeling festive and thought I'd pull some black and orange-themed interiors.  While using black and orange independent of each other is easy, I feel like using them together requires a certain level of finesse.  After all, no one wants their house to look Halloween-y all year long.

Love these examples...

Don't let the scary Donatella pic scare you away from admiring the DREAMY

Tilly Maison: You had me at Lucite

As I was stalking the blogs the other day, I found Tilly Maison, an Etsy designer who had combined two of my favorite things...lucite and chevron prints. I HAD to check it out for myself and of course ended up buying something which I just got in the mail today! Yippppeeee!!

This One's A Framer

I don't know why, but I have a huge obsession with decorating walls which is hilarious because we only have wedding pictures and Pearl Jam Posters (the latter was not entirely my choice) on the walls at this point. I just can't commit to anything. And while I would love to just cover every inch with crazy, colorful, metallic wall paper, I can't afford to do one wall let alone a room. After stalking the internet all night for ideas, I came across one...framed wall panels using wallpaper!!!!So all I need to do is hop on Walnut , get some wall paneling for framing and I'm done!!

Don't Cry for Blake...

Well, by now you've probably heard that our favorite Gossip Girl, Blake Lively, and boyfriend Penn Badgely have split (tear).   Hmm, maybe it's because the real life Serena is EVERYWHERE now and is seriously the IT girl of the moment.  Has she gotten too famous for LonelyBoy?  We're guessing that the blond beauty won't be at home alone crying for long, after all, she's got too many parties to attend and magazine covers to appear on.

Here are some of our all time fave Blake looks...

Umm a Vogue cover in both February 2009 AND June 2010??

So until she finds her next BF, at least she'll have BFF Anna Wintour.
Therefore, I don't feel the least bit sorry for her.

Would you wear this?

The dressed up sweatpants with heels look was first seen in the Spring 2010 Collections of designers like Alexander Wang and Elie Tahari. I thought they were ridiculous and would not last long. By the fall shows, everyone from Philip Lim to Michael Kors to J. Crew were showing their own versions.  I don't know what to think about these honestly.  They seem chic rather than lazy and sloppy, but am I just being loco? Is this just the newest version of the Juicy flaired sweatpants with heels? Gross!

First seen at the Spring 2010 shows  (Elie Tahari)
J. Crew
My favorite: Aubin & Wills skinny sweatpants with Rick Owens Leather jacket,Aubin and Wills Snood, Proenza bag and Elizabeth and James booties all from Net-a-Porter

North of Madison has started casting for a new reality show called "North of Madison."  Sounds like a "real life" version of The City, and I literally cannot WAIT for it to air. While they're apparently casting bloggers for the show, it looks like E & I don't exactly qualify... we're both about to be over the age limit for casting - WTF!

Sooo... if you're "the supreme definition of a current mover and shaker in the Big Apple" be sure to apply.

Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying the show from my rocking chair at home.

Louis Louis

I have a Louis XV-style chair that I picked up at a thrift store and lets just say that it's in DIRE need of some help.  I absolutely love the lines of the Louis-chair look, and I'm completely obsessed with the way that people fix them up to make them modern and unique.

Here are some great examples of this... now which combo to choose for my project????

How amaz is this pink graffiti chair that

Marchesa + Wedding dresses = Pure bliss!!!!

OH.MY.GOD. I am in heaven after looking at these dresses.

What do I have to do to get one of my friends to wear one of these dresses for their wedding??? One of whom is getting married next fall which would be perfect timing to buy one of these spring 2011 Marchesa wedding dresses. I will seriously re-do my wedding if I have to so I can wear one of these beautiful creations. My husband and I can use the dress as a tent after we sell our house to pay for a 2nd wedding.

5 Below $50 - Things I Own Edition

For this edition of 5 below $50, I'm featuring items that I own and can vouch for.  I hope you enjoy checking out my "looks for less" as much as I love hunting for them!

I use the 2x3 size of this West Elm rug as a front door mat once you enter my house (PS: this is the rug that E! Fashion Police uses on their set!!)
West Elm Beaded Diamond Dhurrie - $24.99 (sale price for 2x3)

Love this little sheepskin - and love the little price.  Perfect for draping over the seat of a ghost chair, or just throwing on the floor.  I even have one that my dog Henry uses as a pet bed.
Ikea RENS Sheepskin - $24.99

I use these green storage boxes in my home office... they look great on shelves and are Container Store quality for 1/3 of the price.
Ikea Kassett Storage Boxes - $4.99 for a 2-pack

I am addicted to the look of sunburst mirrors, but usually they are at least a few hundy.  After searching around, I finally settled on this discount version. Note: The mirror is actually flat, so to make it look way more expensive, I found an inexpensive beveled mirror to glue on top.  Now it looks amaz! (I'll post a pic soon)

CSN Stores Ashton Sutton Gold Sunburst Mirror - $49.99

In order to help finish out my bookshelves, I had to get some assistance from Half Price Books.  They have a Books by the Yard offering that allows you to get 3 feet of books for $20. Whoo hooooo!
Half Price Books, Books by the Yard - $20

Happy bargain shopping!
